Account locked or blocked

Microsoft may lock your account after multiple failed sign-in attempts. Wait 15–30 minutes and try again, or use the account recovery form at account.live.com/acsr.

Two-factor authentication issues

If you cannot receive your verification code, use a backup code, sign in from a trusted device, or contact Microsoft support to temporarily disable 2FA.

Wrong account or email

Ensure you are signing in with the Microsoft account (not a work/school account) that holds your personal Office 365 subscription.

Browser or app issues

Clear your browser cache and cookies, try a different browser, or use the Microsoft 365 desktop app instead of the web version.

Work or school account (IT-managed)

If your account is managed by your employer or school, contact your IT administrator — they control password resets and account access.

Still can't sign in?

Microsoft support can verify your identity and restore access to your account. Have your account email and any recovery information ready before calling.
